Curly hair can be dry and fragile, which means proper care needs to promote moisture retention. Luckily, we make this easy with our complete collection of hair accessories designed with you mind.
The secret is in the satin-lining, a unique feature in our hair accessories. Give your locks some love with stylish accessories that are as beautiful as they are essential for curly hair.
Our Silk Turbans are as regal as they are comfortable. The double-lined silk and hidden adjustable drawstring means our turbans can be customized for the perfect fit while remaining light and breathable.
The ready-to-wear style achieves the perfect wrapped turban look every time, without the bother of needing to wrap and tie it yourself. Available in a variety of elegant colors and prints, these turbans match every occasion and are easily dressed up or down.
These 100% silk pieces are lifesavers for dry and fragile hair. Most fabrics absorb moisture, which is why many hats and wraps will leave your hair dry and prone to breakage. Silk is a naturally breathable material, so our turbans will keep you warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s hot.
Silk does not absorb your hair’s natural oils and instead redistributes your hair’s natural oils along your strands and scalp. Grace Eleyae silk turbans reduce friction and matting to eliminate bedhead, breakage, and frizz. Our turbans can be worn with your sleepwear, casual looks, or elegant apparel.
Silk turbans are a must-have for keeping curly hair nourished, protected, moisturized. Enjoy heavyweight protection with a lightweight feel so you can feel confident about your hair protection while looking like a queen.
Introducing a headband that’s better for you. Grace Eleyae silk headbands are stylish, hypoallergenic, and 100% essential additions to your hair accessory collection.
Available in solid colors and striking prints, you’ll want to get your hands on these before you even hear about all the benefits! Headbands are easily one of the most popular and useful hair accessories out there. Keep your hair away from your face, or take any outfit from casual to fabulous in an instant!
Unlike other headbands that are made with abrasive materials that can cause friction, breakage, and loss (oh no!) of your poor baby hairs, Grace Eleyae Silk Headbands give your edges the delicate care they need because they are low in tension and cause no friction.
Baby hairs are some of the most fragile on our scalp, especially for curly hair. Our Silk Headbands provide the same nourishing protection as our turbans, redistributing oils to keep your edges soft and moisturized without tugging on them.
Give your edges some love while pulling your hair back to let your smile shine.
This isn’t your grandmother’s bonnet! A long-known tip for caring for curly hair has been wrapping up your locks at night. While we have nothing against this practice (in fact, consider us advocates) it’s time your evening bonnet got an upgrade.
The Grace Eleyae Adjustable Slap is a satin-lined cap that’s gentle enough to sleep in, while also being stylish enough to wear out and about. The adjustable elastic band keeps your slap in place no matter how much you toss and turn at night. Available in an array of neutral colors, you’re sure to find the perfect match to your pajamas and evening routine.
Wrapping your curly hair at night is a great way to reduce nighttime friction, dryness, and breakage. The cotton composition most often seen in pillowcases can absorb moisture and be abrasive against your hair, meaning you’ll wake up with more frizz, breakage, and dryness.
A satin-lined cap is a necessity for preventing damage. Our slaps protect your delicate cuticles and provide the optimal environment for hair growth. The satin works overnight to redistribute your hair’s natural oils so your hair stays moisturized while you sleep. How’s that for multi-tasking?
Besides all the great haircare benefits, sleeping with an Adjustable Slap can also extend the longevity of your hairstyle, meaning fewer trips to the salon and more days enjoying your style.
Your go-to solution for bad hair days has just received a major upgrade. This cap takes all the classic, athleisure elements you love while giving you a satin-lined, hair-protecting boost.
While hats may be notorious for causing friction and frizz, Grace Eleyae’s baseball hats are lined with our signature satin-lining and protects your strands from being damaged.
The hidden adjustable strap allows you to tailor the fit of your Baseball Hat so that it stays on your head no matter the outing. These hats are a must-have for workouts, running errands and easy to style on a sunny day.
Much like Grace Eleyae’s products, this Baseball Hat is designed with form and function in mind. The satin-lining locks in moisture, protecting and conditioning the hair on your scalp while you’re looking cute and taking care of business.
This hat is ideal for curly hair, especially if you’re enjoying some sunshine. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can damage the hair cuticle, leading to dryness, frizz, and broken ends.
This Baseball Hat works double duty so you don’t have to.
Ah, the scrunchie, another beloved classic. 70s throwbacks these are NOT. Our scrunchies are sleek, simple, and available in thin, medium, and thick sizes in three easy-to-match colors.
Like all of our products, these scrunchies are designed with gentle hair care in mind. The silk material won’t snag or tangle, providing low-tension support on your busiest days.
Wear these to the gym, running errands, or whenever you feel like adding a pop of color to your outfit. Superior softness means you won’t have to suffer through any more pulling or tugging on your fragile curls.
Silk scrunchies are the way to go if you have curly hair. Regular hair ties are often too tight, and get lost and tangled in your curls. The result is rough handling, breakage, and dryness, plus unsightly dents in the hairstyle you worked so hard to put together that morning. Our Silk Scrunchies won’t snag or dry out your hair. The soft fabric slips easily around your curls, and the extra stretchy design means you can get it out later without yanking half your hair out with it. Silk scrunchies are also ideal for extending the life of your styled hair. With a light hold that doesn’t create creases, there will be no more crying over a ruined style every time you need to put your hair up.
Upgrade your regular hair ties for something better with Grace Eleyae.
Your curly hair deserves the best, and good hair care starts with good habits. Replacing your old, damaging products is the first step to creating a hair care routine you love with accessories you can’t wait to wear over, and over again.
Our silk and satin-lined products are tailor-made for natural curly hair. Our products are designed with the style and the health of your hair in mind because looking good should never be a compromise. Protect and nourish your lovely natural curls with satin-lined hats and slaps that eliminate the friction so you can look and feel smooth all day long.
With Grace Eleyae, you never have to sacrifice your hair health for style ever again.

Grace Eleyae’s signature satin-lining protects your curls from the drying winter elements while redistributing your hair’s natural oils to keep them strong and healthy. ]]>We recently had the opportunity to be interviewed by The Hustle, Byrdie's new series where they highlight women in the beauty and wellness industry. Grace sat down with their team for an in-depth article that covers everything from business decisions to who really is Grace Eleyae. Here's a short preview of the article where Grace shares about the transition from an Etsy Store to launching the GE Website.
What was the journey like transitioning from Etsy to a corporation?
It had its challenges. We had a product, we had a tiny bit of traction from our Etsy store and influencers, but we didn’t have a sustainable and consistent way of reaching our customers and pushing them to our website. That was the first challenge. Once we had that solved and started to grow, even more, inventory management became a challenge. Making sure we maintained our high-quality standards even as we increased in volume became an ongoing challenge. And additionally, we had customer service, fulfillment, software, and other logistical issues that we now look back on as “growing pains.”
What is Frizz?
Your hair is made up of three layers, and when the outer layer (the cuticle) becomes raised due to moisture passing through it, hair looks dry and brittle, or in other words...frizzy. Here are our top tips for each hair type to keep your hair frizz-free.
This is a quick fix with big results. Cotton pillowcases are known to cause a lot of friction, which can leave you with a frizzy tangled mess in the morning. Silk Pillowcases are smooth and allow your hair to glide across the surface at night, eliminating friction and making your morning hair routine easier. Besides saving your hair from bedhead, silk pillowcases are also dermatologist approved to help fight sleep lines!
Using a cotton towel or blow-drying on the highest setting will cause your hair to dry out, thus leading to frizz. If you like blow-drying your hair, try using a diffuser! This hair saving invention spreads out the heat to prevent hair damage.
If you prefer to let your hair dry more naturally, try switching to a microfiber towel for a frizz free routine! Microfiber is 100 times finer than human hair, and a square inch on a microfiber towel holds close to 200,000 fibers. This creates a larger surface area in which to absorb moisture, making your drying time faster.
This might sound crazy, but going longer in between washes can be a good thing. When used too often, shampoo can dry out the natural moisture in your hair which is why conditioning afterward is so important. The beautiful thing about curly hair is you can shampoo your hair as little as 2-3 times a week. Once you start limiting your shampoo usage, take note of how your hair reacts and adjust accordingly.
Type 4 hair is prone to frizz, which is why deep conditioners and oils are your best friend when it comes to de-frizzing your hair. This work starts in the shower, your deep conditioners and oils will help penetrate the shaft and deliver the right amount of proteins and moisture your hair needs for a frizz-free look. Our signature GE Argan Oil is high in Vitamin E and healthy fatty acids, which will create a barrier to lock in moisture and keep frizz at bay.
After you washed and styled your hair, you’re going to need some products that will help you retain that moisture. Our Silk Turbans are stylish for the office, and our Satin-lined Baseball Caps are perfect for your day to day activities. The silk and satin-lining help reduce hair damaging friction, lock in moisture, fight frizz, and distribute the natural healthy oils you’ve worked so hard for.

"Bow Chicka Wow Wow!
So you are ready to have a nightcap with your boo but there’s one problem - you just washed your hair! Don’t let the idea of ruining your twist-out, ‘fro or locs prevent you from engaging in extracurricular adult activities. So what are the options available to enjoy a sexy, natural-hair friendly nightcap? You must prepare!
Keep Your Hair Pinned Up or Braided
The longer you keep your hair up and secure the less likely it will get messed up. Braiding your hair will help keep those edges laid and frizzy hair to a minimum. I keep my hair up all the way through my date and let my hair down when it’s show time. Bantu Knots, braids, fishtails and hairpins are your best friends when maintaining a fresh wash and it feels good to unbraid your hair and appreciate your natural curls with the added bounce.
Invest in a Travel-Sized Spay Bottle
Depending on your hair grade and texture a little water mixed with oil can be your best friend. You can skip the water and add your favorite hair oil or setting lotion that you can spray on your hair after your nightcap is over. It’s a simple and easy fix that you can style with your fingers. Try not to use too much product because you don’t want his memory of you to be a trail of hair grease on his pillows. Speaking of pillows...
Protect Your Hair Without Sacrificing Sex Appeal
Some men don’t mind bonnets and some do. I have yet to meet a man that has satin and silk pillowcases in his bedroom. So what is a natural to do to protect her hair? You can go the YOLO route and leave your hair unprotected for the night or you can come fully prepared. You can either bring your own pillowcase or you can wear a more attractive hair bonnet. I have a satin lined cap from Grace Eleyae that’s comfy enough to fit all of my hair yet stylish enough to wear outside in public without feeling like I look I’m prepping for surgery. If I wear it out, I usually wear some hoop earrings and lipgloss and it looks like a regular beanie.
Opt to Wash Your Hair At His House
If you decide that the previous steps are too much and you are in a rush, consider washing your hair at his place. It’s intimate, it saves time and you can add your leave-in conditioner when it’s damp and put it in a bun. A damp bun will not only highlight your face but you can always take it down when you’re in the heat of the moment.
So ladies, you can totally enjoy your freshly done natural tresses and enjoy all of the joys of adult time by keeping these steps in mind when you are with your bae. Besides, your partner should enjoy your hair just as much as you do."

]]>What looks like a basic beanie is actually something of a hair savior, designed to not only help your hair retain its moisture but also avoid knots, tangles, and breakage. Grace Eleyae came up with the idea for the SLAP from her own frustrating hair experiences, which came to a head (no pun intended) during a 12-hour (round-trip) road trip in Kenya. The combination of exposing her hair to dry air and sitting in a car for 12 hours left her with serious hair breakage in the spot where she rested her head on the car’s headrest; something she attributed to traction alopecia, or the loss of hair due to pesistent pulling of the roots.
Grace was no stranger to silk and satin bonnets and headscarves for protecting her hair, and they do have their benefits. Not only do they act as a barrier to harsh conditions, but the fabrics are also friendlier to hair than moisture-absorbing materials like cotton, that can lead to dryness and breakage when they come in contact with your hair. But, Grace wanted a product that was discreet, versatile, and easy enough to wear basically anywhere, anytime. “I just kept thinking there has to be a way for women to be able to go out and have their hair protected and still look good,” she said in a video about her experience. “And thus, the SLAP was born.”
As a self-declared beanie fiend, I can definitely attest to the fact that the SLAP (which comes in a bunch of different colors) nails it in the style department: The simple, cotton exterior and slouchy silhouette make it an easy, throw-it-on-and-go-wherever option. And a cute hat that also blocks the harsh winter air from my locks is definitely something I can get behind.
But what really sold me were the nighttime benefits. True, satin pillowcases and silk headscarves are nice alternatives or supplements to cotton pillowcases when it comes keeping dryness at bay, but the satin pillowcases don’t do much for avoiding tangles, and the headscarves can easily slip off over the course of the night. The SLAP, with its elastic band, allows you to tuck all of your hair safely inside the cap (which is spacious and stretchy) and be pretty confident it’ll all stay put as you sleep. The result, for me, was waking up to hair so soft and smooth, I couldn’t stop touching it. Seriously, I was amazed. After years of brushing out morning knots, and trying various oils, conditioners, masks, and the like in pursuit of soft, shiny, healthy hair, I never considered the fact that the antidote to my oft-dry, frizzy, and tangle-prone hair would be a fabric, rather than a formula."

]]>Letitia Conliffe had a rocky relationship with her mother growing up in a small town known as Sulphur Springs, Texas. Constantly being told that she'd never amount to anything, Letitia decided to run away from home, started skipping school and turned to drugs. This lifestyle quickly led to Letitia getting pregnant.
After losing a friend to drugs, Letitia, a homeless single mother, decided to use her second chance to follow her life calling and be the blessing she felt her community needed. She decided to serve the kids in Sulphur Springs growing up with the same issues she faced as a child.
Letitia started an after-school program called Lil 4's Kids Club where the kids in Sulphur Springs affected by drugs, teen pregnancy, domestic violence and other hardships can go for a hot meal and a safe place to sleep.
As the good news of Lil 4's spread, more and more kids came to Letitia for help. Even with such limited space and resources, Letitia continued to help as many kids as possible.
Using her life savings to keep the doors of Lil 4's open, Letitia managed to feed up to 50 kids daily with just a skillet and a crockpot.
With bills piling up, Letitia found herself struggling to keep Lil 4's running the way that she had always dreamed of, so she started a GoFundMe campaign.
One night, Whoopi Goldberg heard Letitia’s story and it shook her from her sleep. From there, Whoopi Goldberg gathered an arsenal of business owners together to help Letitia. Grace Eleyae and a half a dozen other companies were able to bless Letitia with a total of $70,000 cash, clothes, appliances and so much more. Watch how this nation-wide community came together to make Letitia’s dream of expanding Lil 4’s club a reality.

First things first: rope in your best bud (or buds) and co-host. There really is a lot of planning, prepping and coordinating that goes into hosting a Friendsgiving dinner. Luckily, you don’t have to do it alone! As co-hosts, you can brainstorm and collaborate together, making it easier for you. Plus, you get to spend more time with your favorite people! Who doesn’t want that?
Every successful party has one thing in common…. FOOD! Unless you’re a Wolf-Gang Puck prodigy, you probably don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen making a meal for 20+ friends. An easy-solution to that is having a potluck! Make a list of items you would want to see at the dinner table, distribute it to your friends and let them do the cooking! This is a great way for everyone to bring their favorite dish, have a lot of food and become a part of the tradition. Here's one [vegan] dish that will knock your friends' socks off :)
As you’re making checklists, don’t forget to check off the essentials and fill-in the blanks where needed. If your friends are taking care of the food, you may want to be in charge of the plates, cups, cutlery and any other miscellaneous items you can think of. Better to be over-prepped than caught off-guard!
If you and your friends like to dress-up or get creative, you may want to consider having a theme for your Friendsgiving. You can tailor the theme to fit your friend group. Whether it’s a “Friends” inspired dinner with guests dressing up as their favorite character or a “Netflix & Chill” party where pajamas are required, make sure it reflects the essence of your
own friend group!
Think about having some fun activities to do before, after or during dinner. Your activities can be as structured or loose as you would like. Whether it be playing a game like Cards Against Humanity or Taboo, or arts-and- crafts or even popping in your favorite movie, a successful party always keeps the guests entertained.
The ultimate playlist can set the mood and make or break your party! A great way to please everyone is to create a Spotify playlist and make it "collaborative." Have your friends follow the list, and then they can add in their requests! That way, you’ll please everyone’s musical tastes while making your job easier. It also gives you more time to practice your moves.
So now that you have a whole list of ideas, make sure to tell your friends! Give them advanced notice as some friends could be heading out of town for the Holidays. A Facebook event is an easy way to explain what’s happening to your friends, provide logistics and keep track of everyone’s attendance. For a fancier affair, you can create a Paperless Post or Evite invitation. That way, if they’re not on Facebook, they'll still get the invite. No friend left behind!
It goes without saying, but don’t panic! You may experience some stress in the days leading up to your Friendsgiving, but it’s all about hosting a fun and relaxing evening for you and your friends. The Holidays can be stressful, so don’t pile any unnecessary stress. Ask your co-host for help and don’t worry about things being perfect. It’s okay if the Turkey burns, you can always order pizza.
But above all things have fun with the people who have your back no matter what. After all, Friendsgiving is a way of saying thanks to the people who put up with you all year long.

]]>If you’re prone to forgetting a few essentials on every trip, you can take advantage of a “Pack This” list. You can find one on Amazon or purchase one at Target.
While the “Pack This” list might keep you from forgetting things, be careful not to overpack! Here’s the secret to packing light: mix-and-match your items! We’re talking neutral colored basic tees, jeans, long sleeves, leggings, casual dresses, pj’s, socks and of course, underwear. Depending on your travel duration, try to limit yourself to a couple pairs of pants and multiple shirts so you can mix-and-match throughout your vacation. Rule of thumb: if it doesn’t work with any other item in your bag, don’t take it! You probably won’t wear it anyways. Another quick tip – roll your clothes to save space!
If your destination takes you to a warm location, move on to the next tip. But if you’re going somewhere chilly, keep reading. The key here is to wear a sweater on the plane (which will be freezing anyway). You may want to consider wearing or carrying your bulkiest jacket or sweater during your travels and keeping the other ones in your luggage to save room. You’ll thank us later.
We suggest taking one pair of shoes you can walk distances in (for sprinting to your flight or walking big city streets), one pair of dressy shoes for events, and a pair of sandals or slippers, depending on where your travels take you. Wear your bulkier shoes while travelling to maximize your luggage space, but keep in mind, you’ll want to leave the triple-lace boots that take 10 minutes to take on and off in your bag so you can get through security quicker (unless you TSA Pre-check. See below).
Why wait in the long security line when you can pre-check?? For only $85, you can register on the TSA website, schedule an interview at your local TSA office (usually at the nearest large airport), and enjoy the perks. In airport lines that offer TSA Pre-check, you’ll be able to leave your laptop in your bag and your shoes on your feet. You can even leave your jacket on if you zip it up. Best of all, the line is significantly shorter (most of the time), giving you more time to relax by your gate.
Instead of taking your chances on the movies and tv shows the airline might offer for in-flight entertainment, take the time to download Netflix and/or Amazon Video to your tablet or smartphone the day before. That way you can download your current TV or movie obsessions directly to your device. Now you won’t have to pause your Suits, Stranger Things or The Crown binges. You’re welcome.
When you have a 6am flight and you need to leave the hotel at 4am to make it to the airport on time, sometimes Uber and Lyft wait times can be over 45 minutes in the morning. In many cities however, Uber offers a feature called “Schedule your Uber.” The night before, sign into your app, enter the time you need to be picked up and sleep worry-free. Your carriage will be awaiting you in the morning.
If you forget your phone charger, you can say goodbye to those amazing Insta stories. Unless you’re planning on unplugging during the holidays, don’t leave your charger at home. One trick to avoid forgetting the charger is to plug your phone in and place it on top of your purse, wallet or keys. That way, when you’re ready to go, you won’t forget it! And if you’re prone to draining your battery, invest in an external battery pack like this one.
Last but not least, don’t forget your Slap (satin-lined cap)®! You’ll want to keep your hair undamaged, tamed and frizz free. If you wear it with all of your hair in, most airports will not require you to remove it. Wear your twists or cornrows with ease underneath your Slap, and know that your hair is protected against plane and taxi headrests. Best of all, you’ll look cute, stylish and ready-to-go! You can also easily carry your satin pillowcase in the carrying case it comes with to put over harsh hotel pillows ☺

The young founder, CEO and student designer from Rhode Island School of Design identifies as a visual activist who is embodying diversity in a new, unique way.
Her venture, Healthy Roots, specializes in doll designs that empower young black girls to fight colorism and internalized racism. That’s a big task, but how does she do it? Well, her dolls come in different skin tones, facial features and hair textures that represent what real black women look like.
The dolls represent different stories and cultures from African- American, Haitian, Nigerian and Afro-Brazilian cultures. Healthy Roots is breaking down stereotypes and teaching our young girls to embrace their own beauty!
This inspiring entrepreneur has also been given her own TED Talk on #blackgirlmagic and hopes to inspire girls everywhere! “It is important Black children see a positive reflection of themselves,” said Yelitsa.
The hustle is real for 27-year- old founder of “The Shade Room” (TSR). “I don’t take a vacation. If I got a week off, The Shade Room would probably burn down,” says Angelica, whose publication covers trending stories, politics and celebrities from the point of view of people of color.
With more than 8 million followers on her online platforms – including Facebook, Instagram, a website, Snapchat and YouTube page – this media mogul has fought her way to the top. Angelica had a rough childhood at the hands of an abusive father and her experience through the foster care system.
Despite her circumstances, Angelica got a full-ride scholarship to Loyola Marymount University and graduated as an accountant. But her career took a full 180 when she was chosen to participate in the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab at the age of 23.
She began to network, met the right people and became inspired to begin a blog about the things she liked. By the end of the first week and a half, she had over 10,000 followers. “It’s a brand people want,” she says.
“It’s nothing but a vibe” with co-writer and star of the HBO series Insecure, Jo-Issa Rae Dop (Issa Rae). As a child, Issa lived in Maryland where she says she grew up with things that aren’t considered ‘black,’ like swim team, street hockey and Passover dinners with Jewish best friends. But when her family moved to LA, she attended a predominantly black middle school and found it difficult to fit into the ‘norm blackness’ she thought she was supposed to be.
In 2007, she graduated from Stanford University with a major in African and African-American Studies. As a college student, Issa made music videos and wrote and directed for fun. She also met Tracy Oliver, who helped produce Awkward Black Girl, which went viral and helped launch her to the success she’s built today.
Most recently, our girl became the face of CoverGirl! Oh, and she’s now worth an estimated $3 million. How about that, Lawrence?
Living in her mother’s basement and selling an old Jamaican family recipe, Nailah Ellis-Brown made it her mission to carry on the family legacy and bring this tea to a store near you.
The Forbes 30 under 30 entrepreneur used to sell the family’s special hibiscus tea from the trunk of her car. A generous silent partner invested $150,000 into her idea, and she now has her own 4,000-square foot bottling plant in Detroit. Ellis Island Tropical Tea is carried in 20 Whole Foods stores across five states as well as in Busch’s Fresh Food Market and others.
Her advice, “Don’t accept no as an answer from any person who does not have the authority to say yes. I was given that advice as an adolescent and I use it quite often. That advice has opened many closed doors for me.”
Grace Eleyae, founder and CEO of Grace Eleyae Inc., turned hair issues into an opportunity with her revolutionary Slap (satin-lined cap)®.
Her silky, satin-lined items were created after a trip to Kenya turned into torture for her hair due to long-term exposure to the Kenyan heat. After 12-hours of her head bumping on the headrest, her hair become so damaged it completely broke off in the middle of her head. Grace wished there was a stylish and comfortable product that could have stopped this from happening.
She saw her problem as a need for something new, which led her to her own company, personal brand and the next-generation of satin bonnets and products. From satin scrunchies to satin-lined baseball caps, Grace has become a savior for those looking to keep their locks in check while looking fly in the process.
“I wanted to create something that women could wear to bed that was comfortable enough to wear and that had an elastic band so it stays on the head,” said Grace. “It looks stylish enough to wear out whether you’re going on a date night or want to dress it up or down. It compliments any outfit well!”

I wanted something that you could wear into public without feeling embarrassed and so I created the Slap.
It has a satin lining on the inside and exterior fabric of cotton that's actually pretty stretchy and that fits all of your hair inside of it and looks stylish enough to wear out whether you’re going on a date night or want to dress it up or dress it down. It compliments any outfit well.
The Slap is meant to protect the hair from harsh cottons from harsh materials that suck the moisture away and leave the hair dry and brittle.
What satin does is it allows the hair to glide along it while keeping in the moisture in the hair. So When you’re wearing the Slap the satin on the inside acts as a protective barrier from any harsh cottons.
And it allows the hair not only to keep its moisture but also it also makes sure it remains untangled and it remains intact by the morning time.

]]>Making a change to your sleep schedule isn't like flipping a switch. Unless there's a good reason to get up with the rest of the larks, that snooze button is getting the smackdown every time. Here are a few great reasons to crank that alarm clock backward and reclaim the morning.
Hitting Your Stride
Whether you wake up early or late, it takes time to get the juices flowing. Late risers tend to squeeze out every last drop of sleep—dashing out the door, grabbing whatever food is quickest, and meeting the day already stressed out.
Early risers get a jump on the day. Having the extra time to get ready fully before the pace picks up, allows room for you to conquer your work day, get better grades, and feel more control over your daily life.
Productivity
Are morning people actually more productive because they work harder? Not necessarily. According to Harvard biologist Christoph Randler, early risers can be more productive because of one big advantage: they’re up at the times where our bodies are naturally more productive - during the morning and the afternoon. Changing your schedule, and waking up early can help you do your best work, when it is most effective and most appreciated.
Mood Fortitude
Waking up early reduces stress and increases positivity throughout the day. In a recent study, evening types were more susceptible to unhealthy behaviors. Morning types are more associated with optimism and resilience. Another study revealed improvements in depression and sleep quality when people changed to an earlier sleep-wake cycle.
Exercise
Your willpower is like a tank that gets drained throughout the day. At the end of the day, you go to sleep and it gets filled up again. If you typically wait to exercise until evening, your willpower tank is running on fumes and those running shoes might stay in the closet. Reserve half an hour in the morning and you're more likely to lace up.
Make the Change
While everyone is predisposed to certain sleep patterns, it is possible to change your sleep schedule. The key is doing it incrementally—if you set your alarm back an hour all at once, you're more likely to fail. Try moving your wake time just a few minutes a day and you'll be a lark before you know it!
]]>It's that undefinable lethargy. The exhaustion, the weariness. Suddenly your pores look bigger, your hair isn't how you planned it to be, and you're positive you see a zit coming.
Fear not though. You are an amazing, gorgeous, world-conquerer and one bad mood will not take you down.
Here are 15 amazing ways to feel confident on your worst days
]]>It's that undefinable lethargy. The exhaustion, the weariness. Suddenly your pores look bigger, your hair isn't how you planned it to be, and you're positive you see a zit coming.
Fear not though. You are an amazing, gorgeous, world-conquerer and one bad mood will not take you down.
Here are 15 amazing ways to feel confident on your worst days.
1. Take a long shower or bath
A hot shower or a relaxing bath is sometimes exactly what it takes to wash a mood away. Take a moment to add an extra bit of luxury, like playing your favorite song or adding essential oils. Rosemary, basil, juniper berry, or peppermint are all known to clear the mind.
2. Exercise
Try something designed to be refreshing instead of draining. Gentle yoga, dancing, or taking a walk around the block are great choices. Any of these activities can let you think to clear your mind, and get your blood flowing.
3. Power poses
Studies have proven that you can trick your brain into believing you're confident even when you're not. Make sure you keep your shoulders back, your back straight, and smile. Walk tall. Remember, you are beautiful and you can accomplish anything.
4. Affirmations
The power of the mind is astounding. In Think and Grow Rich Napoleon Hill argues that setting your mind to something is the first and most vital step to accomplishing it. Telling yourself an affirmation can help you regain your focus and your drive.
5. Wear your favorite outfit
Seeing your reflection when you're wearing a pair of jeans or a dress that you know make you look amazing kicks a bad mood in the butt. Knowing you look good boosts your confidence and your mood.
6. Play your favorite songs
If you know that there's a song you always have to dance to, play it and dance along. Music affects our moods and our minds in a myriad of ways, so use this tool to bring you to a better state.
7. Indulge a little
It's okay to pamper yourself when you're down. Treat yourself to something you love that you normally don't get away with. A rich piece of dark chocolate or a second cup of Starbucks can help get you through your day.
8. Tell yourself a compliment and mean it.
Look your reflection in the eyes and tell yourself something wonderful. Remember, you are beautiful. You are strong. You can achieve anything.
9. Try for two minutes
If there's a project you're dreading, force yourself to start for two minutes. If you don't want to keep working after that, you don't have to. You put forth the effort, now you can do whatever you want. Sometimes starting a dreaded task is the hardest part, and once you get rolling you won't want to quit. Knowing you've accomplished something can chase a bad mood away.
10. Journal
If you're in a bad mood and don't know why, putting your thoughts and feelings in writing can help you find the source of the mood. Once that's done, you can move forward and find a way to fix the problem.
11. Watch your favorite movie
Studies show that by watching your favorite movie can calm you and alleviate a bad mood. Since your brain knows the ending, there's nothing to worry about. Knowing what is going to happen next lets you relax.
12. Meditate or pray
Letting go of your stresses through meditation or prayer can clear your mind and help you relax. This is especially if mental well-being is already a regular habit.
13. Kick ass.
Literally. Pin point what's bothering you. Imagine it clearly in your head, and kick away. Let your troubles know they can't bug you forever and you have control over your life. Mimicking kick boxing brings your body into a confident pose and gets your blood flowing.
14. Call a friend or loved one and talk.
Sometimes the problem is loneliness. Humans are social creatures so reaching out and connecting can do wonders on a bad mood.
15. Allow the mood to be.
Sometimes fighting a mood doesn't work, so let it be. Acknowledge that you're not okay right now. Cuddle up in a blanket, lie down, have a good cry. It's okay. The mood will pass. It doesn't define you. There is nothing wrong with you. You'll be okay. You are an amazing, gorgeous human being and nothing will keep you down.

Embrace your beauty sleep and remember these reasons why it's ok to snooze a little more. ]]>So many of us have accepted frizz into our morning routines, allowing it to dictate daily hairstyles and hold us back from truly living confidently. Thankfully this no longer has to be the case!
It's important to know that your hair is made up of three layers, and when the outer layer (the cuticle) becomes raised due to moisture passing through it, hair looks dry, brittle or in other words, frizzy.
Check out some of the greatest DIY ways to get rid of frizz with any hair type.
Yes - avocados! Not only are they tasty, they help your hair retain moisture! This is an all-natural (God sent) conditioner for dry and frizzy hair. It helps smooth out those fringed ends and revitalize your hair. Mix one avocado, 1/4 cups olive or coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Cover your hair, and leave in for 20-30 minutes. This is great for every hair type! Plus, you can buy extra avocados and prepare guacamole while your hair reaps the benefits of avocado goodness.
This might sound crazy, but going longer in between washes can be a good thing. Shampoo dries out the natural moisture in your hair and causes you to condition afterwards. If you have curly hair, you can shampoo your hair as little as 2-3 times a week. For those with wavy or straight hair, pay attention to when your hair starts to feel too oily. Unless your hair is very thin, you shouldn’t need to shampoo every day.
The wonders of apple cider vinegar never cease to amaze! This rinse helps heal hair cuticles and give you a luscious shine. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to ½ cup water and pour over damp hair. Gently brush your hair, and let it sit for about five minutes. Wash out.
The best way to get rid of frizz is a tried and true trick: sleeping on satin! Most of us own cotton pillowcases not knowing that we are stripping our hair of natural oils, and causing friction on our hair which leads to frizz and ultimately breakage and split-ends. One of the best ways to protect your hair at night is with a Satin-Lined Cap. The satin inside will keep your hair safe from cotton and other harsh fabrics that lead to messy morning hair. Now available in adjustable sizes, ready-to-wear turbans and warm styles made from wool for the colder months.
If the thought of sleeping in a stylish beanie doesn't sound appealing to you, you can still kiss bedhead goodbye with Grace Eleyae's luxurious satin pillowcases. The smooth satin will never add friction to your hair and allow your natural oils to stay where they belong - in your head.
